FAQ

Answers to the questions finance will ask.

  • How is gridtrue's pricing different from GitHub or GitLab?

We don't charge per build-minute. Validation runs on your developers' machines using resources they already own. You pay for the network infrastructure we operate on your behalf — peers, orderers, search, storage — not for compute time.

  • Why is the Free tier so limited?

Because real verification infrastructure costs real money, and we refuse to pretend otherwise. The Free tier runs a single-pod network that hibernates after an hour of inactivity, uses a shared search index, and has no SLA. It's honest — you get real Git with real cryptographic verification at zero cost, with the tradeoffs made explicit. If your team needs high availability, dedicated search, and guaranteed uptime, that's what Pro is for.

  • What happens when I hit my free-tier storage limit?

You'll see a warning at 80% and blocked pushes at 100%. You can either upgrade, delete old LFS objects, or wait for lifecycle policies to free space. Your ledger and commit history are never deleted for quota reasons.

  • What does “hibernation” actually mean for Free?

After 60 minutes with no git operations or API requests, your Fabric pod scales to zero. Your data is preserved on persistent storage. When someone in your team hits your org next, the pod boots — this takes 45-90 seconds. You'll see a retry banner in the UI and pushes will wait. It's inconvenient, not destructive. If this isn't acceptable for your workflow, upgrade to Pro.

  • Can I move my repos out of gridtrue?

Yes. We ship an export command that produces standard Git repositories (pushable to GitHub, GitLab, anywhere), plus a JSON export of your attestation history for audit. Your Fabric channel is also exportable for full portability.

  • Is my code stored on a blockchain?

No. Only hashes and metadata are on-chain. The actual Git object bytes live in cloud storage (GCS) operated by gridtrue. See our architecture docs for the data ownership boundary.

  • Do you support self-hosting?

We're building a self-hosted license for Enterprise customers with strict sovereignty requirements. Contact sales if this is on your roadmap.

  • What does an attestation actually prove?

That a specific build, test, or deploy ran — with a specific runtime, on a specific machine, at a specific time, and the developer's cryptographic identity signed the result. It's the equivalent of a notarized CI run.

  • Can we mix local and cloud runners?

Yes. Policy can require some validations locally (fast feedback) and others in the cloud (environment you control). All attestations go to the same ledger — the source is recorded as provenance metadata.

Running on regulated infrastructure?

gridtrue Enterprise supports dedicated clusters, region pinning, customer-managed encryption keys, and audit log export to your SIEM. We'll run through your compliance requirements on a call and scope a deployment that fits.
